1999's and up Z28's have a Zexel-Torsen differential which is designed to last the life of the car. It does not have clutches like the Auburn carrier which came in previous year cars. Since the 4.10 ring is a little bit of a thicker gear, you have to grind this paddle down a little bit to make it fit back into the carrier. Since I have new Lower Control Arms, a panhard rod and a torque arm that all have polyeurothane bushings, I can now hear all of the little noises inside the car that these gears make. You can sometimes hear the clicking. The polyeurothane bushings transmit more noise into the car. That's part of the reason why GM puts soft rubber on these parts to quiet down the noise.
